Tell us a little bit about your family and your holiday style.
We are a family of four, currently based in Cape Town, South Africa. We love travel in all shapes and sizes from the as-often-as-possible family road trip, to the once in a lifetime 7 day cruise.

When we road trip, we love staying in bed & breakfast or self catering accommodation. We launched our travel blog called TazzDiscoveries to document our trips. The first part of the blog name was formed from our initials – Tami, Anton, and kids Zac (12) and Zoë Magnin (9).

What has been your favourite family holiday and why did you love it?
If we had to take a vote, I think our kids would probably say that the 7 day cruise (from Durban to Ihla de Mozambique) we went on at the end of last year was their favourite. They got to fly and sail for the first time in their lives in the week of their 9th and 12th birthdays. The reason for our cruise was to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We loved it because there was so much to see and do and we got to travel in the lap of luxury while island hopping every few days. Idyllic bliss.

What 3 destinations are top of your family travel bucket list?
South Africa – because there is more to our beautiful country than just safari, Iceland – because we’d love to see the Northern Lights and Thailand – because our poor South African currency at least stands half a chance there. (There is nothing worse than travelling to far flung countries and cringing every time you need to pay for a cup of coffee.)

If you had to pick one travel item that makes travelling with kids easier, what would it be? Imagination. There is no better way to keep them giggling than with silly stories and made up games. And music, definitely music.

What’s your best piece of family travel advice that you can share with the Our Tribe Travels community? Understand from the word go that things aren’t going to go according to plan. Then take a step back and breathe. Family travel isn’t always picture perfect. Kids get tired and overwhelmed and they often need to just slow down and splash in the waves a bit to regain their equilibrium.
