A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR FIVE FAMILIES TO EXPERIENCE LIFE ON A FIJIAN ISLAND, AT A DISCOUNTED RATE, IN EXCHANGE FOR FEEDBACK.
Who are Bridge the Gap?
Bridge the Gap’s mission is ‘Travel for Good’.
Fiji is internationally known as a luxurious resort destination, but few travelers experience the authentic Fiji, rich in culture and tradition. Vorovoro offers the unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the remote Mali and Vorovoro Island communities.
Vorovoro immerses you in a Fijian experience unlike anything else found in Fiji. It is a small Fijian island and part of the community of Mali. It is the home of the chief of that community, Tui Mali. When we visit Vorovoro, we become guests in a Fijian home. This is an aspect of a trip to Vorovoro that, time and time again, visitors comment on as being the very best part.
Take part in traditional ceremonies, participate in local celebrations, learn Fijian craft making, drink kava under the stars, and work alongside the Fijian community on shared projects and goals. Take it from us, friendships you grow on the Vorovoro Island endure a lifetime!
Fijian Chief Tui Mali and Bridge the Gap have been hard at work for several years to create:
Meaningful programming:
The programs we’ve developed embody the true Fijian spirit while keeping in line with development goals and maintaining cultural and environmental sensitivity and integrity. Visitors are not thought of as visitors; visitors become family and Vorovoro is their home.
Positive Social Impact:
Together with Vorovoro’s chiefly family, BTG has built a unique responsible tourism experience that aims to enhance the local community, culture, and environment.
Effective Collaboration:
The Vorovoro experience is so much more than a holiday getaway or an island vacation. Profits from Vorovoro Island’s educational tourism go directly to supporting the development goals of The Vorovoro Cultural Centre, the Fijian operated enterprise owned by the landowning family of Vorovoro Island.
This experience is now open to families.
Wanted! 5 families to experience the real Fiji at a discounted rate, in exchange for feedback.
The Experience:
Travel to a lush island paradise and immerse yourself in Fijian culture during Open Island. Take part in a variety of cultural classes and island activities like snorkeling, hiking, fishing, and hammocking, but also work alongside the local community to help build our latest project – a new kindergarten classroom for the local village school. Vorovoro is a remote, rugged island environment perfect for those comfortable with outdoor adventures and camping.
The Vorovoro experience is about connection and disconnection. Connection to the natural world, to yourself, to those around you, to the stars and the sea and the tides that rule our days. Disconnection from the outside world and it’s influences and pressures, disconnection from constant reliance on technology, disconnection from habits and ways of living that get in the ways of connecting in our daily lives.

What:
Take part in a variety of cultural classes and island activities like snorkeling, hiking, fishing, and hammocking, but also work alongside the local community to help build our latest project – a new kindergarten addition for the local village school. Why:
People in remote parts of Fiji used to live off the land and the sea. With climate and social change they can no longer do that in the way they used to. Instead, the people of Vorovoro choose to make a living and invest in their future by sharing their amazing island, culture, and way of life with those of us from far away.
