There is a lot of guilt attached to this picture.. There is a lot of guilt attached to this picture... it’s January 2021 and we’re in the middle of a global pandemic. Yet, here we are in Florida. We were so unsure about whether or not we were doing the right thing, that we waited until 48 hours before departure to book our condo 😬 But the flight was pretty empty. We’ve been wearing masks. We’re in our own place. Pool crowds are sparse. Groceries have been delivered. Kids are doing virtual school. And we’re getting some much needed sun. So I’m going to try to push that guilt aside and enjoy these moments as much as possible✨

It’s not everyday you find a Tyrannosaurus Rex i It’s not everyday you find a Tyrannosaurus Rex in the middle of the woods! 🦖⠀ And, it’s even more surprising when those woods are in the middle of nowhere Alabama! 🤯⠀ ⠀ I thought I’d go through our past trips, State by State, and share our favorite spots and tips for visiting for when all of this virus stuff is over. ⠀ ⠀ So mind as well start at the beginning of the alphabet... First up, Alabama! ⠀ ⠀ Awesome road side attractions are essential for any great road trip, ESPECIALLY with kids, and the Dinosaurs in the Woods in Elberta, Alabama are a must stop. ⠀ Who would have guessed you could find T-Rex and three of his friends hanging out down there?? ⠀ When we heard about them, we knew we had to check it out while on our Spring Break Road Trip of 2019.⠀ Check out our stories for more pics and see who else we found. ⠀ Hint: 🦕 ⠀ ⠀ ✨How to find the Dinosaurs in the Woods...⠀ Address: Barber Parkway, Elberta, Alabama⠀ ⠀ 1. Drive US Hwy 98 either eight miles east of Foley, AL, or 21 miles west of downtown Pensacola, FL. ⠀ ⠀ 2. Turn south onto County Rd 95. Drive five miles. ⠀ ⠀ 3. Turn right onto Fish Trap Rd. Drive a half-mile. ⠀ ⠀ 4. Turn left at the Barber Marina sign. One thing you should know about our family is that One thing you should know about our family is that we are HUGE UNC fans! Mike went to graduate school there and I commuted to Chapel Hill just about every weekend for two years from my consulting job. You can’t spend any time in Chapel HIll and not become a devoted basketball fan! 🏀And naturally, we have raised our kids to bleed Carolina blue: they’ve always worn the gear, watched all the basketball games, fly the flag on game day, and have made multiple trips across the country to visit the campus. In 2016, we decided to follow the team to Maui for the Maui Invitational. 🌺🌴The tournament is held over Thanksgiving week every year in Lahaina, but UNC attends only every 4th year. That year, UNC won the entire tournament and we were there for every game! It was an amazing way to kick off the college basketball season. We decided from that point on, we would spend every 4th Thanksgiving on Maui cheering for the Tar Heels. 2020 is the year we were supposed to go back to Maui. The tournament wasn’t canceled, but it was moved to Asheville, NC and we decided not to go. It’s a bummer to miss out this year, but we’ll be cheering them on from home with our flag flying proud. Go Heels! Maui 2024!🌈

Since moving to the East Coast, we’ve found and Since moving to the East Coast, we’ve found and explored quite a few lighthouses. Our favorite has been the Tybee Island Lighthouse on Tybee Island, Georgia. ⠀ ⠀ Located just off the coast of the historic city of Savannah, Tybee Island has a lot to offer, but if there’s one thing you do during your visit (other than hit the beach), it’s climbing the 178 stairs to the top of the lighthouse for an amazing 360° view of the island and ocean!⠀ See more in our Georgia stories and highlight bubble. ⠀ Try and spot some dolphins once you reach the top! 🐬⠀ ⠀ Tip: plan for some extra time exploring the lighthouse museum and gift shop, the surrounding housing, and across the street the Endicott Gun Batteries. “Collect moments, not things.” I have this quo “Collect moments, not things.” I have this quote sitting on my desk on a beautiful wooden plaque that my late husband and I picked up on one of our trips to Key West. It is such a great reminder to make moments. . Since the new moon last week, I’ve felt some shifts…creative energy shifts. It reminded me I am in control of my life. I can turn dreams into realities. So I started thinking about what I wanted for the remainder of this year. I mean, its been a crap shoot of a year so far, am I right? I wanted to be specific about my intentions and make them really freaking awesome. . I decided I wanted to adventure more. I love camping, being outside, hiking, watching the sunset, sitting my a fire, waking up and having a cup of hot coffee outside. I try to incorporate all of this in our lives at home, but some times you just need a chance of scenery. . I’ve started researching bigger cars, ones that can tow a small trailer. Trailer with a bathroom, heat and air conditioning are a must. I know, I’m more of a glamper than a camper, but if mama ain’t happy ain’t nobody happy. lol. I own it. I’m ok with that. 😉 . So as I plan out our fall and maybe even winter activities, I’m curious to know where are your favorite places to visit? Northeast, down south, out west, doesn’t matter..What we don’t get to this fall, we’ll plan for next year. I’m thinking a National Park trip in the next year or so..🏕 . So take a second to daydream or reminisce. Where would you go if you could go anywhere in the states or Canada. Lakeside? Beaches? Mountains? We celebrated a special six year olds birthday yes We celebrated a special six year olds birthday yesterday. We started our day with a ninja obstacle course, opened presents after breakfast, and played all day. We literally had calls and video messages from all over the world. We definitely felt the love from near and far. ♥️ J was a total trooper and has continued to take everything in stride. He is a clever, creative, and imaginative child. When he "grows up" he wants to be an artist and a scientist. He loves Legos, music, and zooming around on his new bike and scooter. J has grown so much in this last year. He can befriend anyone. He is bilingual. He has a broader world view. He is more resilient. And he is more passionate and determined than ever. We made it! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Three days We made it! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Three days of travel, three kids and about 33 pieces of luggage later we are ready to begin our new life here in Aberdeen...after our quarantine stint;) • We left here for France as newlyweds almost 13 years ago, just the two of us. With minimal luggage, no expectations and no clue where it would all lead. From France we moved to Norway, Texas and Saudi collecting fridge magnets and babies along the way! • Now we are back with much more luggage, 3 extra humans and still no clue where it will all lead! There’s so much to think about and organize but for now I’m enjoying the little things...fresh air when I open a window, filing the kettle from the sink, hanging the washing outside and a bottle of Prosecco chilling in the fridge (sorry Saudi chums 😳)! • We don’t know if that’s the end of our time living abroad, but for now this is home and for the kids this is “abroad” because they’ve never lived here! Everything is exciting for them and seeing it through their eyes, I’m realizing how much we took for granted before. We can’t wait to go looking for a family home, get out exploring and meet up with friends and family!! This iconic city will always be my fave “crowded This iconic city will always be my fave “crowded city”. . We last visited Venice in a November. It was cold and blustery, even rainy on some days, and we literally soaked it all up. The mass of summer tourists were long gone, daytrippers were far and few between, and lines to museums were practically non-existent. . What a treat it was to spend our days meandering the maze of alleyways catching glimpses of the real Venice! . I hope Easter marks the start of a new beginning for Italy and the world so that all the places that were once humming with tourists return to their lively state. As much as I love experiencing destinations without crowds, some places - without their constant string of visitors - just isn’t the same. . Hope you’re having a safe and healthy Easter! . Do you prefer lively cities or empty ones?

visitconkers had a whole area dedicated to forest visitconkers had a whole area dedicated to forest school, where we got to play in their teepees made out of branches. Very interested to learn they offer bushcraft activities, being ranger led shelter building sessions and loads of team building activities! WE WILL BE BACK! 😆👌

Canoeing ⁣ ⁣ We’ve had a lovely few days sta Canoeing ⁣ ⁣ We’ve had a lovely few days staying in our house. My parents had the boys while we took the girls canoeing. It was great to do something with them as they often don’t get as much attention as they should. ⁣ ⁣ The girls were initially grumpy about the activity but did enjoy it. I really enjoyed it. It's Sunday so it's #sunsetsunday there is a hasht It's Sunday so it's #sunsetsunday there is a hashtag so it must be a real thing, insta is so weird, maybe one day I will understand😉 This one is from Phu Quoc Island, have you been? One of the biggest disappointments of Phu Quoc Island would have to be the amount of trash, on the side of the roads and washed up on some of the beaches.  And one of the highlights of our three months in Vietnam would have to be the Phu Quoc cable car over to Pineapple Island, luckily last year it was still relatively new & not too popular. Sometimes the places that look pretty in all the pictures don't live up to your expectations.  The golden hand bridge in Da Nang is one for us, there are crowds of people once the tour buses arrive, it's like selfie central.  We had more fun at the fire breathing, water spitting dragon bridge in Da Nang, and it's free.  Where have you been that's been a let down from all the hype?? #sunsetsundays #sunsetphotography #sunsettravelofficial #travelpicsdaily #sunsetlover #sunset_love #sunset #phuquocisland #vietnamsunsets

Is anyone tired of the news? We finally went out, Is anyone tired of the news? We finally went out, after a few days of doing nothing, for a hike along the 3.5-mile Cliff Walk yesterday. There couldn’t be virus at the seashore, and we all need to breathe in some fresh air. Our little ones jumped all the way in excitement, and learned some new skills (eg. climbing trees). The highlight of our day but not without a bit of The highlight of our day but not without a bit of effort... We arrived at More London around 12:30pm and it wasn't working. 😬 One of the mums who were around told me that it’s usually closed from 12pm to 2pm! . . The kids disappointment was so big that we decided to wait and hope for the best! Lucky that we usually have some things in the car: mats, colouring book and pens. They managed to entertain themselves in the shade for one hour and a half until the BIG moment. At 2pm on the dot they were back again and it sounded like the beginning of a gig... all the kids who were patiently waiting stood up and ran like crazy towards the fountains! STAYCATION DONE! . . ...and just like that it’s STAYCATION DONE! . . ...and just like that it’s all done...our first staycation in a long time and our first holiday post COVID-19. If I have to give you one piece of advice it would be to research research research where you’re going. There are still lots of places not open yet or running at a very reduced service. It’s a shame because I always loved a little bit of the element of surprise when going on holiday; hoping I’d uncover a gem when we got there. However in this new world it’s a little difficult. For example, some restaurants remain closed, are offering a different menu or are only allowing half the number of diners in than they normally would. We also found a number attractions are remaining closed until mid-August while they finalise arrangements. NOLA, I know we just met you but we love you alrea NOLA, I know we just met you but we love you already!  We fell in love with your history, cuisine, music, and atmosphere.  #HostedByHCV Today hiclubvacations is celebrating their official opening of their New Orleans Resort, and we loved ringing in the new year at their brand new resort a few weeks ago! We stayed in a newly renovated, 2 bedroom Signature Collection villa. It was super spacious for our 3 little ones and we truly had everything we needed for our week long stay! The resort is located just a block from Bourbon Street — which made it so easy to get around the city by walking and riding streetcars. Everyone in the Butan Clan got a taste of the amazing culture — even just from walking down the streets.
