Campervanning looks very different for many people - some prefer a little more luxury, while others are happy with very minimal equipment. I would like to think that we sit somewhere in between those extremes and pride ourselves on only buying and storing things in the van that we consider are essential for making life easier on the road as a family.

It's been hard to find our groove and know what to add to our little time capsule over the past few weeks..months.

So we will start here....

So much has happened since hitting the road again. We certainly feel like different people/travellers since jumping bright eyed and bushy tailed into the travelling life almost 3years ago now.
To say adjusting to life on the road with a newborn has been a breeze would be a lie. It's been filled with the normal challenges that come along with having a new bub. Sleepless nights, non stop tears, laughs, high, lows and lots of sitting still watching in awe of just how precious a newborn is.

Yet once again we find ourselves at times speechless and beyond proud at how smoothly and lovingly our crew, yet again, adjust to life with a new member in the tribe.
We find ourselves time and time again saying...'how lucky are we that we get to bare witness to all these little souls sharing their life with us.'
The travelling life has been a little more messy and extremely slow paced this time round. It turns out our littlest tribe member didn't get the memo before he joined us earthside that we are a travelling family.
He likes to scream the car down after an hour of travel. Not the most idea of situations to be in but it ensures we are really seeing alllllll of Australia one town at a time!!!
But all jokes aside this little man has given us an opportunity to slow down and reflect on our journey to this point.
And not just this travelling chapeter of our lives all chapters up until this very moment. Man have we come along way. Its been painful, it's been bloody hard work at times and then there has been complete clarity and peace.
We may seem completely 'different' people to some but what we feel in our hearts is a true connection to self.
So why has it been hard to fill our time capsule with memories.....
Inorder to face these challenges in life and take them on as an opportunity to grow, one must go within.
We are still stumbling at times, feeling completely overwhelmed and questioning everything....but the road to inner Peace isn't paved with smooth roads now is it!?

Hello 👋 We've had so many new followers since we started travelling again, so I thought I'd do a little re-introduction as it's been a looooooooong while since the last time I did this 😘

🚐 I'm Jenny, Mum of the Lynn family. I work as a travel blogger (yes, that is actually a real job that earns you money 😜) - I love the flexibility it provides me around our family and the travel opportunities it brings.

🚐 With Jay (hubby) and our two boys (Arthur 7, Ezra 6) we live in the Peak District 🇬🇧. I also run peakdistrictkids - which has become the go-to website for families exploring the UK's oldest national park 🥾 and the website receives over 180k page views per month.

🚐 As a family we love epic adventures. We have lived in India, trekked the Himalayas, and traversed Africa in a Land Rover.

🚐 We jumped on the pandemic VAN-waggon in June '20 and bought our Mazda Bongo camper from eBay for £7k. We were supposed to be taking a family gap year and travelling overland from London to Sydney last year - a trip Jay and I did back in 2007 🙄. But we absolutely love our Bongo; he's part of the family now 🥰.

🚐 We are all Aussie citizens as Jay and I used to live in Sydney. The boys have never even visited, and it's currently the top country they want to travel to. One day...

🚐 I've never liked sea food. And when I decided to become vegetarian over three years ago, it was a huge relief to just say to people that I'm vegetarian, rather than explain I don't like sea food 🙈. Although I still sometimes eat the boys left over fish fingers 🤷‍♀️.

🚐 Oh and we're currently spending the summer travelling around France in our Bongo and having the best time ever 🥰🇫🇷.

Right, I think that's enough waffling on about myself 🤣.

✨Once upon a time... a girl had a dream. ✨⁣

A dream to do a multi day trek with her 9 year old son. And off they went to the Andes of Ecuador... 🏔⁣
⁣
I don’t often think of myself as strong or brave, but for a total scaredy cat I have been on some epic adventures! ⁣
⁣
👣 One of the most amazing things I’ve done was earlier this year when Cian and I and my friend hiknmeg and her two girls set off on an amazing South American adventure. ⁣
⁣
We had no guide nor accurate map. All we had was our intuition, a few measly wooden sign boards occasionally set up against a rock to tell us where to go and our own determination. ⁣
⁣
We got lost daily, sometimes many times a day. We got caught in rain showers. Some of us (me! 👋 ) got stuck in muddy ravines and had to be helped up by locals.⁣
⁣
There were tears. There were fears. There was friendship and forgiveness. There was lots of noise, and quite times too.⁣
⁣
Sometimes I just wanted to cry, so I had to dig deep to find the strength to get up that last half mile, straight up hill. Always, straight up hill. I could hardly do it. But I did. Every single day. We all did.⁣
⁣
There were hard moments, but that last day knowing the end was near I felt sadness that it was almost over. I also felt stronger though, knowing what we had accomplished. ⁣
⁣
Two moms, on our own, with kids. ⁣
⁣
🙏 Now, 10 months later I continue to feel thankful I took the opportunity to be brave and do something off the beaten path and totally unknown. ⁣
⁣
💫 I’m grateful a person I had only met a few times trusted me with a trip of a lifetime. ⁣
⁣
💪 And I’m glad to know I CAN do hard things. ⁣
⁣
🌍 Now we wait.. & plan for our next multi-day trek somewhere else in the world!⁣

We’ve been in Colmar for 4 days and visited some of the most beautiful villages around, like this fairytale village, Eguisheim. We enjoyed the Gewurztraminer, tartes flambees, pain espice, ou macarons. Playground in Colmar is 👌🏼! We also have been playing a lot of uno!

Ryan is away on a golf trip in Michigan, and I'm just missing him 🩵

Do you and your spouse travel separately? Ryan has to fly back and forth to work while our home base is in Indiana a few months a year, but other than that, this is usually our only separate trip. While it's only for 3 days, I glad he gets to do it!

I'm thinking it's time to start a girls' trip 🙌

I published a book! During our year away travelling the world, I blogged. But I never wrote the blog from our final destination nor the closing blog because I was very self-critical. It’s taken me 5 years to realise that what we did was amazing. So, I tidied up. Wrote the last blogs. Got it down off my website, formatted it, edited it and sent it off to be published. Just 4 copies for me, my husband and one each for my sons. I love the physicality of it. The gloss. The ribbon. The colours (bookprintinguk1 did a superb job)

Can you spot anything different about our Bongo? 🔥⁣⁣

We picked him up from bongospares_ on Friday after a full service and fixing a few little things. Then Saturday we packed him up for his first proper camping adventure!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
We're currently camping at Hayfields campandcaravan (AD - hosted) in the foothills of Kinder #peakdistrict. There are no facilities open, so we had to bring our own loo (comprising of a pop up tent, collapsible loo seat, bin bag and saw dust!), but on a clear day like today it's a truly stunning spot 👌⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And it's so well located for a hike up Kinder, which is exactly what we did today. EIGHT HOURS OF HIKING!! ⁣⁣

I am absolutely buggered, but the boys did me super proud and somehow still had the energy to run around in circles once we returned to camp 😳😅. But thankfully we had a bolognese in the slow cooker and cold beers in the fridge waiting for us 🙌.

Ethan and Mia will turn 6 years old in a few months. The last year has been a year of many firsts and many last.
This is the year, Ethan and Mia attended their first grown-up birthday.
This is the year Mia started calling me Mama occasionally rather than Mummy.
Ethan doesn't like to be tucked in anymore. He still wants to be hugged and kissed before he goes to bed but doesn't want to be tucked in.
They want more one on one time with us. We've made breakfast dates and day outs with them individually a thing.
Ethan has started cooking more often this year and Mia wants to twin with me every time we step out.

So this is 'winter' in Spain ☀️ It's perfect hiking weather 👌🥾

Huge thanks to greengirlgetaways for telling me about the superb coastal footpath from Vilanova to Sitges. We were planning to go to Sitges today, but had no idea about the walking route until I saw her message this morning!

It's 8km along fantastic rocky cliffs and sandy coves with a regular train whizzing past on the other side.

And once we arrived in Sitges - WOWSERS! What a stunner of a town.

A train and bus then brought us back to our campsite, where the boys STILL had energy for the jumping pillow 😳. Arthur's fitbit (Xmas pressie) has totalled 29,296 steps today 🤪.
