Overview:

Baby products are widely available in any of the supermarkets, in the major towns and cities. CarrFour is one of the biggest supermarket chains and there is plenty of choice in terms of baby food, snacks, milk powder, nappies/diapers, baby wipes and infant washing products.

In Marrakech it’s also easy to find infant stock in the smaller local shops, even in the Souks, but the choice is limited and the pack sizes tend to be smaller (see pic below)

One thing that became apparent was that the smaller towns charge a premium for stock as there is no competition for business. Stock up when you are in the larger cities as this will be considerably cheaper.

Guide to prices:

Pampers pack of 52 nappies = 99 dirham (USD10.5)

Pack of 80 baby wipes = 16 dirham (USD1.7)

Tin of Nestle milk powder = 65 dirham (USD7)

Tokyo Day 1

Our overnight flight landed in Tokyo at 7:45 but we couldn’t get into our apt until after 3.

We stored our luggage and explored Asakusa- known for the Senso-Ji Temple.

This is the oldest temple in Tokyo. We stopped to get our fortunes- you shake a stick out of a box, match it to the right drawer and draw a fortune. If it’s bad you tie it to a stand and leave it behind.

We had our first Tempura/sushi lunch, the girls examined every toy vending machine, we walked Kappabashi street (kitchen supplies) and tried some treats along the way.

So much to see everywhere, we are loving it!

🌟 Campervan Essentials 🌟

Campervanning looks very different for many people - some prefer a little more luxury, while others are happy with very minimal equipment. I would like to think that we sit somewhere in between those extremes and pride ourselves on only buying and storing things in the van that we consider are essential for making life easier on the road as a family.

🌟➡️ NEW on the BLOG - Our Campervan Essentials! (Link in bio) All recommendations are items we have tried and tested over a considerable period of time, organised within the format of answering questions we have been asked recently.
▪️How can you keep your van clean and tidy on the road?
▪️How do you prepare meals when you are travelling?
▪️How do you manage to travel with children and a dog?
▪️How do you manage to fit everything that you need into such a small space?
▪️What items have you found really useful that I might not have thought of?
▪️What items do you find really useful when travelling with children?

If you could only choose THREE essentials in your campervan, what would they be?

Hello 👋 We've had so many new followers since we started travelling again, so I thought I'd do a little re-introduction as it's been a looooooooong while since the last time I did this 😘

🚐 I'm Jenny, Mum of the Lynn family. I work as a travel blogger (yes, that is actually a real job that earns you money 😜) - I love the flexibility it provides me around our family and the travel opportunities it brings.

🚐 With Jay (hubby) and our two boys (Arthur 7, Ezra 6) we live in the Peak District 🇬🇧. I also run peakdistrictkids - which has become the go-to website for families exploring the UK's oldest national park 🥾 and the website receives over 180k page views per month.

🚐 As a family we love epic adventures. We have lived in India, trekked the Himalayas, and traversed Africa in a Land Rover.

🚐 We jumped on the pandemic VAN-waggon in June '20 and bought our Mazda Bongo camper from eBay for £7k. We were supposed to be taking a family gap year and travelling overland from London to Sydney last year - a trip Jay and I did back in 2007 🙄. But we absolutely love our Bongo; he's part of the family now 🥰.

🚐 We are all Aussie citizens as Jay and I used to live in Sydney. The boys have never even visited, and it's currently the top country they want to travel to. One day...

🚐 I've never liked sea food. And when I decided to become vegetarian over three years ago, it was a huge relief to just say to people that I'm vegetarian, rather than explain I don't like sea food 🙈. Although I still sometimes eat the boys left over fish fingers 🤷‍♀️.

🚐 Oh and we're currently spending the summer travelling around France in our Bongo and having the best time ever 🥰🇫🇷.

Right, I think that's enough waffling on about myself 🤣.

Big hugs,
Jenny x

Hello 20k followers 🥳🎈💃

I try and ignore numbers on the gram, but with a fair few followers over these past months, I thought it would be nice to acknowledge this milestone and re-introduce ourselves 👋.

Based in the UK's Peak District, we are Jenny (Mum), Jay (Dad), Arthur (9) and Ezra (7) and we have travelled the world as much as we can since the boys were born.

We've travelled much of Africa, Asia and Europe, and highlights include:

🇮🇳 living in India for a year
🇳🇵trekking to Poon Hill in the Himalayas
🎒 backpacking Sri Lanka and Thailand
🌍 101 days overlanding sub-Saharan Africa in a Land Rover with roof tents
🇫🇷 6 weeks travelling France in our #mazdabongo
🇲🇦 4 months living and travelling in Morocco

If you've been following us for a while, you'll know that we really do maximise our travel time around the boys' schooling and have never seen age as a barrier for taking our kids anywhere. Plus we always have big trip plans up our sleeve, we just can't help it 😅 - we feel that SEAsia is calling us this year 🤞. Adventure travel for us isn't a one off experience, it's a life choice.

Whether you've been following us since we moved to India or have joined from recent European travels, thanks for following our little squares of family adventure. Your continued support means I have a job that I love, and I also love being able to inspire and connect with like-minded parents who also want to burst bubbles and show their kids the world.

I'd love to know where we were in the world when you first started following us!

Lots of love,
Jenny x

I, on the other hand, was over 2000 miles away hosting a Tea Party at the historic Tower Estate here in Grenada.

👉Be sure to follow along as I share our Blue Tea Party photos in the next few days!

So this is 'winter' in Spain ☀️ It's perfect hiking weather 👌🥾

Huge thanks to greengirlgetaways for telling me about the superb coastal footpath from Vilanova to Sitges. We were planning to go to Sitges today, but had no idea about the walking route until I saw her message this morning!

It's 8km along fantastic rocky cliffs and sandy coves with a regular train whizzing past on the other side.

And once we arrived in Sitges - WOWSERS! What a stunner of a town.

A train and bus then brought us back to our campsite, where the boys STILL had energy for the jumping pillow 😳. Arthur's fitbit (Xmas pressie) has totalled 29,296 steps today 🤪.

✨Once upon a time... a girl had a dream. ✨⁣
⁣
A dream to do a multi day trek with her 9 year old son. And off they went to the Andes of Ecuador... 🏔⁣
⁣
I don’t often think of myself as strong or brave, but for a total scaredy cat I have been on some epic adventures! ⁣
⁣
👣 One of the most amazing things I’ve done was earlier this year when Cian and I and my friend hiknmeg and her two girls set off on an amazing South American adventure. ⁣
⁣
We had no guide nor accurate map. All we had was our intuition, a few measly wooden sign boards occasionally set up against a rock to tell us where to go and our own determination. ⁣
⁣
We got lost daily, sometimes many times a day. We got caught in rain showers. Some of us (me! 👋 ) got stuck in muddy ravines and had to be helped up by locals.⁣
⁣
There were tears. There were fears. There was friendship and forgiveness. There was lots of noise, and quite times too.⁣
⁣
Sometimes I just wanted to cry, so I had to dig deep to find the strength to get up that last half mile, straight up hill. Always, straight up hill. I could hardly do it. But I did. Every single day. We all did.⁣
⁣
There were hard moments, but that last day knowing the end was near I felt sadness that it was almost over. I also felt stronger though, knowing what we had accomplished. ⁣
⁣
Two moms, on our own, with kids. ⁣
⁣
🙏 Now, 10 months later I continue to feel thankful I took the opportunity to be brave and do something off the beaten path and totally unknown. ⁣
⁣
💫 I’m grateful a person I had only met a few times trusted me with a trip of a lifetime. ⁣
⁣
💪 And I’m glad to know I CAN do hard things. ⁣
⁣
🌍 Now we wait.. & plan for our next multi-day trek somewhere else in the world!⁣
⁣
✨Explore more. Dream big. Do hard things. ❤️⁣

Ad. Whilst on our royalcaribbeaneurope cruise in the Mediterranean we took the chance to visit pompeii_parco_archeologico . I had visited many years before as a teenager, but I was excited to show the kids! We booked a tour via originaltravel that turned out to be the perfect choice.

We were picked up by private car at the dock, taken directly to Pompeii and quickly entered the parc without having to wait for any tour groups.

Our guide was fantastic and showed us around the major features of Pompeii near the entrance. But as we only had 2 hours we couldn’t go too far. The site is massive! Stretches for miles, and still more being uncovered all the time.

Pompeii is an ancient town that was destroyed by the volcano Vesuvius in 79AD. Mostly buried by ash and rocks.
We learned how the people of Pompeii would have lived, from small shop owners to rich noble people. Saw a bakers, the forum and temples. Plus the plaster casts of the victims of course. I also learnt that many of the towns major monuments and statues were dug up and taken away by other local people not long after the eruption!

We returned in the early afternoon back to our cruise ship. Giving the kids time to play and enjoy the pool, there’s only so much sightseeing they can do in one day! ❤️

❄️ We got tons of snow here over the weekend and it inspired me to write about our trip to Rovaniemi, Finland 🇫🇮 this past fall.

I had every intention of keeping it short and sweet—I even started off talking about my son's super cute reindeer stuffy that he got while we were out there.

But then my “quick” post turned into a complete guide for a DIY weekend in Lapland. 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s like I can’t help myself.

One minute I was talking about stuffed animals and the next thing I know is that I'm doing a deep dive into our trip and spilling it all.

✅ Where we stayed
✅ What we ate
✅ What we wore
✅ Where we went
✅ What we did

You name it; I wrote about it. Check it out now—🔗 in bio, then look for this pic.

As always, I hope you find the blog post helpful. Feel free to ask questions, just in case I missed something!

Oh, Lapland, what a beautiful and magical place you are!

We just came back from yet another place I never thought I'd ever visit: Finland.

And it was magical. Like, an actual ❄️ winter❄️ wonderland.

Apparently, there are a lot of tour groups that put packages together for a trip like this, but we did it all DIY.

We flew out (via Ryanair from Brussels to Rovaniemi, Finland) on a Friday morning and came back on Monday afternoon, so it was a short and sweet vacay, but we did all the things in that short amount of time, and even found time to rest and relax a bit, too.

On this trip we:
❄️ crossed over and under the Arctic Circle
🎅🏻 MET (THE) SANTA!
🎄 and went to Elf school at santaparkfin
🐟 ate the best salmon of my life
🍽 also ate reindeer 🦌 and bear 🐻...oh my!)
🛷 went on a reindeer sleigh ride
😍 saw the northern lights
 🥾 walked/played on a frozen lake
😇 made snow angels
🧖‍♀️ relaxed in a sauna
🔥 made and ate s’mores

The cherry on top was that my mom came along for the trip. She's been out here visiting and jumped at the chance to go when I found tickets months ago.

We didn't stay in the city or at the ever-popular Santa Claus Village; instead, we stayed about 45 minutes north in a fantastic (but remote) AirBnB nestled next to a lake—complete with a rotating 365º hut, a sunroom, a sauna, and reindeer 🦌 for neighbors!

⫸⫸ Have you been to Lapland, or is this a bucket list destination for you?!

Like always, a blog post is coming and I'm sharing more in my stories/highlights. Happy to answer any questions you might have in the meantime!

"You make travelling with kids look easy".

This is something I hear a lot.

And you know what? Yes, we do find travelling with our kids easy.

Our boys are 9 and 7 years old now and we've travelled with them since they were born. So we've had 9 years of training 😜. We've learned how to pace our days and itineraries, we know our limits, we know the tantrum triggers for everyone (parents included), and we still always have snacks handy (to mitigate tantrum). That's not to say that things don't go wrong. They do. But just don't seem to bother us.

In fact, I find travelling with our kids much easier than home life 😂. We eat out more when we travel (less meal prep and cleaning up), we don't have to clean rooms and make beds, we travel with the only clothes we need and so there's less washing, there are no school / club runs, and we generally switch off from life's responsibilities 😂. Life is much simpler and time is on our side.

So to anyone just starting out travelling with their kids and finding it all a tad daunting... Trust me, it really does get easier 😘. "Practice makes perfect".

The difficult thing travelling with our boys these days? They're now a lot more vocal about when / how / where we travel. Gone are the days that where they just went along with whatever we say 😂🤪.

Give me a van amongst the gum trees 🌿🎶 💕For almost two weeks we’ve been roaming around in Yolo our Apollo, and I feel like I’ve finally got everything in its place and we’ve settled in 🎉. It’s so easy! I mean, I have to cook and do laundry and connect cables and grey water hoses AND empty the toilet but hey, apparently that’s the reality of #vanlife 🤣🤣 What I Iove the most is: 👍🏻being able to move whenever we want to and that everything comes with us - like today, instead of having lunch and then doing the White Sands Walk along the beaches here in Jervis Bay, we just drove there and made lunch and ate it in the bush before we wandered the beaches. Very cool!! 👍🏻The van is COSY! We have heating and it’s so warm and the bed is comfy too (you guys know my back and joints are old-lady-painful and they’ve been great this trip). 👍🏻I filled up the van completely with diesel a few days ago after a week and a half of driving and it cost $67 - nice surprise!! 👍🏻Caravan parks are fun - we’ve met some really nice people... but someone also had a go at me for my slow van parking skills which I believe are bloody good so 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣🤣 Dont worry, I snapped back hahah. 👍🏻The fridge is keeping my bubbles SUPER COLD. #important

We’re heading west soon - Emmie now has a fibreglass cast but can’t do much with it - kayaking and water sports are banned so we are going inland. Omg EXCITED! Let us know if you’re around Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange, Canowindra, Cowra or anywhere nearby! 😍😍😍 apollomotorhomeholidays #Apollopartner

Ad PR invite Flying high at roarr_dinosauradventure on the new rides!

Roarr now boasts two new rides - Raptor Contrapter where you can fly like a pterodactyl. It’s a great inclusive ride with seats for those with disabilities.
The other being the Swing-O-Saurus, a twist on a swing boat.

It’s a great day out and perfect for family adventures; with Valley of the Dinosaurs the home of 21 animatronic dinosaurs; outdoor & indoor play areas, high ropes, crazy golf, dippy’s racecourse, animal farm, theatre, splash zone & more!

We were literally here ALL day and it kept our two entertained the entire time; they wouldn’t stop talking about it all the way home. The best bit about this place is that once you’ve paid your entrances fee there are no hidden charges for other rides or experiences.

We’ve been visiting since our two were babies and it’s great to see both the children enjoy themselves every time and see how the park has evolved & expanded.

Top tip! 📌Leave the new rides til later. The last 2 hours my two spent the entire time on the new rides and the high ropes course with no queuing! Quite often staying on the rides for another go. I lost count how many times our boy went around the high ropes course & zip wire!

Which area would you try first?

Sometimes they smile for me...and sometimes I take pictures of their butts 🤣.

I kept asking them to turn around for a nice picture, but they'd only half turn around, and only one at a time...I never got all three of them together.

This back-and-forth went on for several minutes until I just gave up and took this picture 🤷🏻‍♀️.

There was a fellow mom standing next to me cracking up over the entire scene taking place in front of her. She didn't speak English, but she sure as heck understood what I was going through.

We laughed and shared a knowing "oh them" mom look that transcended language 💞.

So 20 years from now when my kids ask to see pictures of all three of them together during our time overseas, I hope they don't mind that 90% of those 📸 are of their backside.

😍 At least the background was gorgeous and totally made up for not getting to see their faces.

➳ Do you have more pictures of your kids' faces...or of their butts?

( 🦄 Getting all three looking, smiling, and eyes open AT THE SAME TIME for me is basically the same thing as spotting a unicorn riding on a 🌈. lol anyone else feel me on that?)
